Hi Everyone,
Yes I'm back after almost 4 months of no posts. This is so far my only New Year's resolution. I've had so much to write about and I've often posted in my head but I've been having a hard time writing. So, I'll just update you on what's happening today.
Well, I'm 3 months pregnant with another baby and we are very excited. I think I'm out of the initial extremely tired phase and into my nesting phase, which reminds me I need to order some new sheets for our bed.
Anyway, my little Ethan who walked at 9 months is not almost 16 months old and he is very fast and very agile. Putting clothes on, diaper changes, and other unpopular activities are becoming virtually impossible. As soon as I take off one piece of clothing he flies away from me with lightning speed. Oh, he has now also mastered hiding. He used to laugh when he was hiding so I could find him but now he has learned to be very very quite. Luckily he only has a few hiding places and our house isn't that big otherwise I don't how I would find him. He also takes toys with him into hiding (this is the newest chapter).
Someone suggested that I try implementing some consistent rules like "do not run from mommy" but I can't see how this will work. This is from a mom who has a girl. I'm really starting to believe that boys are an entirely different species.
I belong to a moms club who's mission is all about support for the stay at home mom because it's so hard. It is really hard. Way harder than I imagined but way more fun than I imagined too.
It seems like just when things become easier they get harder. About a month ago Ethan learned to use a spoon and fork. So, now he holds the yogurt container himself and spoons the yogurt into his mouth while I'm free to clean the kitchen. Prior to this I would have to load the spoon and then hand him the spoon which was very tedious.
But just as I was celebrating this huge new milestone another problem cropped up: Temper Tantrums. Yes temper tantrums!!!! If he doesn't get what he wants we pay and he wants a lot of things. He wants to ransack stores. He wants to investigate the escalator. He wants to see the garbage. He wants his mommy 24/7. I reached out for help via Facebook and my moms club and I was directed to a number of books and I ordered all of them today. I also think he's getting in some new teeth so hopefully things will chill out soon but for the last week or so it's been tough.
